As an online software solution provider for property professionals, security is very important to us and our clients.
So by default Landmax.pro utilizes the HTTPS protocol for all client accounts. This means that our clients can access their system securely and their own clients can access their online accounts securely.
But why is this so important?
Google stated at its recent I/O that HTTPS should be utilised everywhere.
HTTPS is communication standard that implements security and encryption between the user and a website. This standard makes it difficult for bad players to intercept or eavesdrop on data passing between client and server.
It is easy to identify within a URL – with https:// instead of http://.
And usually in most modern browsers it is identified further with a lock symbol.
It is a good protocol for wireless network use. It protects the user, especially on public networks where hackers can easily access sensitive data.
For users, it has become the defacto reassurance when making payments via any website. With merchant shopping carts provided by large companies like PayPal, most retail websites at the very least have this protocol in place to process payments.
So for businesses, providing a secure channel for payments seems the logically action to take.
Despite this, according to Pierre Far, who presented HTTPS everywhere at the recent Google I/O, only 25% of the internet utilises this protocol.
This standard protects more than just payment information. HTTPS can encrypt all types of information, from files to communication, in fact any online system that can be accessed via a browser.
According to Symantec’s 2014 Security Threat Report: “Web-based attacks are up 23%”
Customers expect security as standard according to Truste research –
“60% of people say they are more concerned about security now than they were a year ago”.
With even more systems now on the web, it is more critical for businesses to secure their own and their clients’ data.
Be secure with HTTPS
